Step by step
Step 1: Slate Board
Create your own design for the weekly planner, or feel free to import our template. Then, adapt the graphic to the size of the slate board if you need to.
Now, send the job to the laser machine using the following driver settings:
Print Settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | - |
Step 2: Laser Process (Slate):
Create the material parameter settings. These parameters can vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available power.
Tip:
We suggest testing the parameters on the back of the slate board before you decide to begin the project. This way, you can make any alterations before possibly ruining your board.
Laser Parameters
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Engraving: Black | Engrave CO2 | 60 | 100 | 500 |
Scratching: Red | Cut CO2 | 20 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|

Step 3: Wooden Frame
Create your design or import our provided template. Adapt the graphic to the size of the slate sheets if you need to.
Now, send the job to your laser machine using the following driver settings:
Print Settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | None |

Tip:
Before you begin cutting, be sure to measure the thickness of the wooden sheet. Adapt the kerf is you need to. Finally, ensure that the slate sheet fits inside the wooden frame.
Step 4: Laser Process (Wooden Frame)
Now you need to determine and enter the material's parameter settings. Please note that these parameters may vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available power.

---|---|---|---|

Info:
We decided to use the standard parameters in JobControl for TroLase ADA Signage, optimised for quality.
Step 7: Assembly
Place the slate board inside your wooden frame. Note that this step is vital! This is because the wooden frame needs to accommodate for the size of the slate. This will, in turn, prevent the wood from becoming warped or distorted later.
Next, glue the back of the TroLase ADA Signage to the wood and slate. You'll be pleased to know that this process doesn't need to be 100% perfect! Our design leaves a fair amount of 'wiggle room' for positioning the back plate. You just need to attach it as best as you can.
Finally, place the signage mounts on the back of the board. Your weekly planner is now ready for all your organisation!
Inspirations
You can now personalise the weekly planner for your customers, or even your own desires! Have a play with different dimensions, shapes and designs. The sky is your only limit!
If you'd like, you can even use a cord to fix the planner to the wall instead of the signage mounting devices. If you decide to do this, leave out the two holes on the bottom of the frame.
