Weekly planner made of slate
Want to see all the events and tasks on your weekly calendar at a glance? Our slate planner is the perfect solution.
Preparation
Required material
- 1 slate sheet approx. 38 x 13 cm
- 1 sheet solid wood oak 600 x 300 mm
- 1/4 sheet TroLase ADA Signage black, 1 mm with double-sided adhesive tape
- 1 package (4 pieces) signage mounting devices R20-156-FK
- Cardboard chalk or chalk marker
Machine used
- Speedy 100
- 40 Watt
- 2" lens
- Honeycomb cutting table for wood cutting
For this sample you only can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engravers series.
Important
Use the extra strong adhesive for the TroLase ADA Signage so that the slate board is securely fixed.
Step by step
Step 1: Slate board
Make your own design for the weekly planner or import our template. Adapt the graphic to the size of the slate board, if necessary.
Next send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | - |
Step 2: Laser process slate
Make the material parameter settings. The parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.
Tip:
Test the parameters on the back of the slate board.
Laser Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Engraving: black | Engrave CO2 | 60 | 100 | 500 |
Scratching: red | Cut CO2 | 20 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | optimized quality |
1 | on | +6 mm | - |
Step 3: Wooden frame
Make your own design or import our template. If necessary, adapt the graphic to the size of the slate sheets.
Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimized geometries, inner geometries first |
Tip:
Before cutting, measure the thickness of the wooden sheet and adapt the kerf if necessary. Also make sure that the slate sheet fit into the wooden frame.
Step 4: Laser process wooden frame
Determine and enter the material parameter settings. The parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.
Laser Parameters Cutting
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | Cut CO2 | 95 | 0.3 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | - |
Info:
We used the standard parameters in JobControl for solid wood oak.
Step 5: Back
Make your own design or import our template.
Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimized geometries, inner geometries first |
Step 6: Laser process back
Determine and enter the material parameter settings. The parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.
Laser Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | Cut CO2 | 90 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | - |
Info:
We used the standard parameters in JobControl for TroLase ADA Signage optimized for quality.
Step 7: Assembly
Position the slate board inside the wooden frame. This step is important because the wooden frame has to accommodate the size of the slate. This prevents the wood from being distorted later.
Next glue the back of the TroLase ADA Signage to the slate and wood. This process does not have to be extremely precise. Our design leaves sufficient "wiggle room" for positioning the back plate.
Finally, position the signage mounts, and the weekly planner is finished.
Inspirations
Personalize the weekly planner for your customers. Use different dimensions, shapes and designs.
If you wish, you can use a cord to fix the planner on the wall instead of the signage mounting devices. In this case leave out the two holes on the bottom of the frame.
