Important information
Use the extra strong adhesive on the TroLase ADA Signage so that the slate board is securely fixed.
Step by step
Step 1: Slate board
The first step is to either create your own design or import our ready made template. You may need to adapt the graphic to the size of your slate board.
Next send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | - |
Step 2: Laser engraving slate
Create the material parameter settings. These will vary depending on your laser machine and its available power.
Tip:
To avoid wasted material test the parameters on the back of the slate board.
Laser Parameters
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Engraving: black | Engrave CO2 | 60 | 100 | 500 |
Scratching: red | Cut CO2 | 20 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | optimised quality |
1 | on | +6 mm | - |
Step 3: Storage
For this step you can again create your own design or import our template, again adapting the graphic to the size of the slate sheets.
Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | Optimised geometries, inner geometries first |
Tip:
Before laser cutting, measure the thickness of the wooden sheet, adapting the kerf if necessary. Make sure the diameters are large enough to hold your slate.
Step 4: Laser cutting wooden frame
Determine and enter the material parameter settings. As with the slate these will vary depending on your laser machine and its available power.
Laser Cutting Parameters
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | Cut CO2 | 95 | 0.3 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | - |
Info:
In our example we have used the standard parameters in JobControl for solid wood - oak.
Step 5: Back
The bqack can again feature a custom design or our template.
Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | Optimised geometries, inner geometries first |
Step 6: Laser cutting back
Determine and enter the material parameter settings, which will vary depending on laser machine and laser power available.
Laser cutting parameters
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | Cut CO2 | 90 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | - |
Info:
We used the standard parameters in JobControl for TroLase ADA Signage optimized for quality.
Step 7: Assembly
Position the slate inside the wooden frame. As the wooden frame has to accommodate the size of the slate this stage is important as it prevents the wood being distorted later.
Next glue the back of the TroLase ADA Signage to the slate and wood. Precise accuracy is not essential as our design leaves sufficient "wiggle room" for positioning the back plate.
The final step is to add the signage mounts, and your planner is ready for use.
Inspirations
Using different shapes and designs, you can create personalised planners for customers.
You can also fix the planner directly to the wall negating the need for signage mounting devices. This will save production time as you don't need to create the extra holes.
