Laser engraved door mat
Step by step instructions
Customise an ordinary, conventional door mat using your Trotec laser machine and a whole lot of creativity!
Preparation
You Will Need
- 1x Single-Coloured Door Mat
Machine Used
- Speedy 400, 120 Watt
- 4" lens
- Vacuum table
Depending on the size of your chosen door mat, you are free to use any machine from the Trotec Speedy laser engraver series.
Tip
Seeing as the structure and texture of the door mat is quite coarse, we decided to use a lens with a very long focal length. This compensated for the unevenness of the material.
Step by step
Step 1: Import Design
Have a go at creating your own design, or you are always free to import our template. Then, send the job to your laser engraver using the following driver settings:
Print Settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 333dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | - |
TIP:
Seeing as a door mat is usually something that is viewed from a significant distance, we suggest using a lower resolution. This will reduce your production time significantly.
Step 2: Engraving the Door Mat
Place the door mat inside your Trotec laser machine and create the parameter settings. Please note that our recommended settings can differ depending on the laser machine you are using and its available laser power.
LASER PARAMETERS - ENGRAVING:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 80 | 100 | 500 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | 4mm | - |
TIP:
Since a door mat is usually viewed from a significant distance, you are only required to use a resolution of 333dpi. It will speed up your job.
