Laser engraved door mat
Step by step instructions
You can use your Trotec laser to customize conventional door mats. Create fun designs or personalize them to make unique gifts.
Preparation
Material required
- single-color door mat
Machine used
- Speedy 400, 120 watts
- 4" lens
- Vacuum table
You can use any machine of the Speedy laser engraver series. (Just be certain you are using a door mat that will fit in your bed size.)
Tip
Due to the coarse structure of the door mat, we used a lens with long focal length to compensate the unevenness of the material.
Step by step
Step 1: Import design
Decide on what design you wish to use for your door mat. You can make your own design or import our template.
Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 333 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | - |
TIP:
You can use a lower resolution to reduce production time. Since a door mat is typically viewed from the distance, the resolution does not need to be as high.
Step 2: Engraving the door mat
Put the door mat into your Trotec laser. Determine and adjust the parameter settings. The recommended settings can differ depending on the laser machine used and laser power available.
LASER PARAMETERS ENGRAVING:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engrave CO2 | 80 | 100 | 500 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | 4mm | - |
TIP:
Since a door mat is typically viewed from the distance, a resolution of 333 dpi is sufficient.
