Equipment
Of course, you can also produce this application with all other machines in the Speedy laser engraving series.
TIP:
Why not try different Trotec materials and colors for a different look and finish?
Step by step
Step 1: Configure Your Laser Settings to Cut the Windmill Blades
Import the graphics and adjust the file to your requirements. Aftterwards, using the following settings, send the file to your laser:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Cut job | 1000dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Enhanced Geometries, Inner geometries first |
Step 2: Cut the Windmill Blades (1mm-Thick TroCraft Eco Sheet)
Lay the 1mm-thick TroCraft Eco sheet on the Honeycomb Cutting Tabletop. Ensure to cover the rest of the working surface to maximize the vaccum's suction.
NOTE: The laser parameters can vary depending on the specific machine used.
Color | Process | Power output % | Speed % | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | CO2 Cutting | 66 | 2 | 1,000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | 0mm | - |
TIP: When working with TroCraft Eco, it is recommended that you use a small nozzle to achieve a clean cut.
Step 3: Configure Your Laser Settings to Cut the Windmill Tower
Use the following settings to send the windmill tower to your laser:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Standard Job | 333dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Enhanced Geometries |
Step 4: Cut the Windmill Tower (3mm-Thick TroCraft Eco Sheet)
Lay the 3mm-thick TroCraft Eco sheet on the Honeycomb Cutting Tabletop, and cover the rest of the working area once again. Then send the file to the laser using the following settings:
NOTE: Depending on your specific machine, these parameters may differ.
Laser Parameters: Engraving
Color | Process | Power % | Speed % | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 15 | 50 | 500 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | 0mm | High Quality |
Laser Parameters: Cutting
Color | Process | Power % | Speed % | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | CO2 cutting | 100 | 0.8 | 1,000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | 0mm | - |
Step 5: Configure Your Laser Settings to Cut the Windmill Base and Blade Fastening Ring
Send the graphic for the stand made from TroGlass with the following settings to your Trotec Laser:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Enhanced Geometries, Inner geometries first |
Step 6: Cut and Engrave the Windmill Base and Fastening Ring (TroGlass Satins Sheet)
Replace the Honeycomb Cutting Tabletop with the Acrylic Cutting Grid Table. Then, place the TroGlass sheet on the work area.
TIP: Use the large nozzle, as this is the best choice for processing TroGlass.
Laser Parameters: Engraving
Color | Process | Power % | Speed % | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 20 | 50 | 500 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | 0.5mm | High Quality |
Laser Parameters: Scratching
Color | Process | Power % | Speed % | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | CO2 cutting | 50 | 0.4 | 5,000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | 0mm | - |
Step 7: Assembly
First, attach the the windmill tower to the TroGlass base. Next, place the blade component on the tip of the windmill tower, and fix it in place with the TroGlass ring. Be careful not to pasten the ring too tightly so that the blades are capable of turning.
Your windmill made entirely from TroCraft Eco and TroGlass Satins is now ready!
Inspiration
- As an alternative to this Don Quijote-inspired model windmill, you can also create a modern three-bladed windmill
- Change it up and use multiple TroGlass colours
- To prevent the blades from falling off of the model, we recommend that you glue the TroGlass fastening ring to the windmill tower tip
