Preparation
Machine used
- Speedy 400
- 120W
- 2.5" lens
- Acrylic lamella / vacuum table with acrylic grid or distance holders
This sample can be made with any machine from the Speedy laser series or the SP laser series. But, you will need to ensure that your machine has a laser power of 80W or more to be able to cut through the 8mm thick acrylic.
Important
- Make sure you remove the protective foil from the acrylic sheets prior to laser processing
- Cover the remaining working area with spare paper or acrylic to achieve a stronger vacuum
Step by step
Step 1: TroGlass Clear 8 mm
Import our design template into your chosen graphics program. Then, send the job to the laser machine using the following laser parameters.
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | enhanced geometries |
Step 2: Laser process TroGlass Clear 8 mm
Now, you need to create the parameter settings. Our recommendations may vary depending on which laser machine you are using and its available laser power.
Tips:
For beautiful and high-quality results, we suggest cutting the shape out first and engraving the designs second.
Laser Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | engrave CO2 | 23 | 75 | 500 |
red | cut CO2 | 95 | 15 | 20.000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced (plate set up) |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | Engraving direction from bottom |
1 | on | -2.5 mm | - |
Step 3: TroGlass Clear 5 mm
Import the design template into your chosen graphics program. Now, send the job to your laser engraving machine using these parameters:
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | enhanced geometries |
Step 4: Laser process TroGlass Clear 5 mm
Next, you'll need to create the parameter settings. Remember, our suggestions may vary depending on what laser machine you are using and its available laser power.
Laser Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | cut CO2 | 50 | 0.2 | 20.000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | -1.5 mm | - |

Step 5: TroGlass Satins
Import the design template into your chosen graphics program again. Then, send the job to your laser engraving machine using the following parameters:
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | enhanced geometries |
Step 6: Laser process TroGlass Satins
Now, you'll need to create the parameter settings. Please remember that our suggestions may vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available laser power.
Laser Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | cut CO2 | 30 | 0.2 | 20 kHz |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - | - |

Step 7: Post Processing & Assembly
Now it's finally time to assemble the display! First, you'll need to glue the coloured acrylic onto the 5mm clear acrylic. Ensure that the pieces are all positioned exactly above one another. Then, position the 8mm acrylic part (with the engraving inside) onto the coloured parts. The engraving will be protected this way, and it will give the display a very aesthetically appealing look.
Inspirations
Want to really wow your customers? Create some displays in other shapes, sizes, thicknesses and maybe try using some different combinations! If you are only using a few thick acrylic sheets, try cutting out a base for the display to sit in. This will ensure the display won’t fall over.
