- 1 sheet of LaserPaper Colour dark blue
- 1 sheet of LaserPaper Colour gold
- 1 sheet of LaserPaper Colour slate gray
- Liquid glue
- Glue dots or double-sided adhesive tape
Laser machine used
- Speedy 300, 60 Watt with 2" lens

Alternatively you can create this sample with any other Speedy laser engraving machine.
Info
A 2" lens produces a more uniform result on large-area engravings.
Step by step
Step 1: Create design layout
Begin by creating your own design and adapting to your needs. Our engraved camouflage design was laser engraved in one process despite its three different greyscales. This process is known as relief mode engraving and is described in more detail on our tips page. Send the graphic for the outer shell to your laser with the below settings:
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Relief | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | enhanced geometries, inner geometries first |
Step 2: Laser engraving process: The outer shell
Load the blue LaserPaper Colour onto your laser machine bed and focus the laser on the material's surface. Select the parameter settings, which will vary between laser machines.
Laser parameters:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engraving CO2 | 40 | 20 | 500 |
red | Engraving CO2 | 9 | 2 | 1000 |
blue | Cutting CO2 | 18 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | 0 | High Quality |
1 | on | 0 | - |
1 | on | 0 | - |
Step 3: Designing the inner frame and "strip curtain"
Send every single graphic for frame and strip curtain to the laser using the following parameters:
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Vector job | 1000 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | Inner geometries first |
Step 4: Cutting inner frame and "strip curtain"
Load the slate gray LaserPaper Colour onto your laser machine's bed and cut the frame. Once completed cut the strip curtain from the golden LaserPaper. The same parameters can be used for both.
Laser parameters:
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
blue | Cut CO2 | 18 | 2 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | 0 | - |
Step 5: Assembly
Take the frame and secure it on the inner part of the cover (where the grip hole is) using liquid glue or double-sided adhesive disks. Take the double sided adhesive tape and apply it to the strip curtain to the bottom of the far left stripe, and on top of the far right paper strip. You can now insert the strip curtain into the cover and secure it. When the card is opened the stripes move like a curtain, making for a great eye catching design.
