Personalized agate pendant
Step by step instruction
Create an agate pendant with your Trotec laser machine.
Preparation
Required material
- Agate disks
- Leather band
Machine used
- Speedy 360, 100 Watt
- 1.5" lens
- Vacuum table
For this sample you can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series.
Tip
We used the 1.5" lens for this sample because we wanted to engrave a filigree design.
Step by step
Step 1: Import design
Create your own design or use our file. We scanned the agate disk so that our design is exactly the right size and shape for the stone, then send the job to the laser machine with the settings below:
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 1000 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color |
TIP:
For the perfect result with our detailed graphics we used the highest possible resolution of 1000 dpi for our engraving job.
Step 2: Engraving the agate
Place the disk in the Trotec machine and focus the laser on the surface. If the stone is round, focus on the average value of the engraving area. Make the material parameter settings. Keep in mind that the parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.
Laser Parameters engraving
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 30 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | + 1.5 mm | high quality |
Tip:
Due to the +1.5 mm z-offset (out of focus) the contrast is higher than engraving in focus.
Step 3: Post-processing and assembly
The pendant does not have to be cleaned after engraving. Add a leather band or a pin and your personalized agate pendant is ready.
