Personalized agate pendant
Step by step instruction
Follow our tutorial to engrave a piece of agate using your Trotec laser machine.
Preparation
Materials required
- Agate disks
- Leather band
Laser machine used
- Speedy 360, 100 Watt
- 1.5" lens
- Vacuum table
Create this sample using any Speedy laser engraver.
Tip
We used the 1.5" lens for this sample because we wanted to engrave a filigree design.
Step by step
Step 1: Creating/importing the graphic
Start by either creating your own design or using our template. We scanned our agate disk to adapt our design directly to the shape of the stone. Send the job to the laser using the settings below.
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 1000 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour |
TIP:
To achieve a perfect result for our detailed graphics we used the highest possible resolution of 1000 dpi when laser engraving.
Step 2: Laser engraving the agate
Position the agate disk onto your laser machine bed and focus on the surface. If the stone is rounded, focus on the average value of the engraving area. Next you should create the material parameter settings. These parameters can vary depending on your laser machine and its available laser power.
Laser Parameters engraving
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 30 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | + 1.5 mm | high quality |
Tip:
Due to the +1.5 mm z-offset (out of focus) the contrast created is higher than when engraving in focus.
Step 3: Post-processing and assembly
There is no post processing required for the agate, simply add your leather strap and your pendant is ready to wear!
