Laser tutorial ideas for schools and universities
Our favourite laser samples made of wood
The knowledge section of our website has a wide range of different laser tutorials available to download for free. Different laser users will have different levels of knowledge, particularly at schools and universities. Pre-made laser design files and settings make it easy for students to create their first lasered artworks. This article highlights some of our DIY sample pieces which are ideal for students to trial.
Laser templates for beginners
“Every journey begins with a first step.” Beginning the laser journey in the classroom with simple laser templates, for example, a personalised keyring is an ideal place to start. As part of your course, cut a keyring pendant out of 3 mm wood (e.g. alder wood) using a laser cutting machine. This template can be easily personalised with a students name. Or, for alternative applications you can start with an information sign, colourful tags or coasters made of wood or acrylic.
Laser templates for advanced users
If your students have already taken their first steps with a laser cutter, they may want to experiment with more advanced templates. For example, how about a laser template for a snack bowl? Once you have downloaded the file and the laser parameters, the foldable bowl will be created in no time. For this application we recommend the sustainable and biodegradable laser material TroCraft Eco. Other ideas for more advanced users include a wall decoration or a miniature rocking chair.
Laser templates for professionals
The trickiest projects are often the most fun! Build the first small models with your pupils and students using the laser cutter. The laser template for a windmill and the building instructions for a model aeroplane were popular choices.
