Preparation
Materials
Small Decoration (Width: 15 cm)
- 1 sheet of 12" x 24" TroCraft Eco (1 mm)
Large Decoration (Width: 60 cm)
- 6 sheets of 12" x 24" TroCraft Eco (3 mm)
Trotec Laser and Accessories
You can use any laser engraver from the Speedy series for this project.
Step by step
Step 1: Prepare Your Design and Send the File to Your Laser
Create your own design, or download our templates (above) and make any desired edits. Send the file to your Trotec laser using the following settings:
Print Settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Ordered Dithering | optimized geometries, inner geometries first |
Important
If you are using one of our templates, double-check that you are using the correct file. We provided templates for both small (15 cm width) and large (60 cm width) project sizes.
Step 2: Process the TroCraft Eco Sheet
Place the TroCraft Eco sheet on the aluminum cutting grid table (or honeycomb cutting tabletop) in your laser. Cover the remaining work area with scrap paper (e.g., printing paper). This trick will help to maximize the vacuum suction force on your material, which will prevent it from moving when being cut and engraved.
Next, enter your laser processing settings. Please note that the parameters below pertain to 1 mm TroCraft Eco. The processing parameters my vary depending on the thickness of your sheet and your laser's maximum wattage.
Processing Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 9 | 50 | 500 ppi |
Red | Cut CO2 | 24 | 2 | 1000 Hz |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Direction | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | - | top down | High quality |
1 | ON | - | - | - |
Step 3: Assemble Your Decoration
Once laser processing is completed, remove all of the cutouts from your laser. The parts are arranged by their size and sequence from bottom right to top left. Place the rectangular plate (i.e., bottom-left cutout) to the side.
Start by inserting the elephant head outline without internal cuts (i.e., top-left cutout) into the the into the rearmost slots on both trunk pieces (i.e., bottom-right cutouts). Proceed to insert the remaining elephant head pieces in the same manner. The order depends on the size of the individual parts - the smallest element is placed in the front slot.
Finally, turn the elephant head over and push the rectangular plate through the two back slots. This fixes the pieces in place, and at the same time serves as a suspension eyelet.
