- Ribbons - various colours of your choice

- 80 Watts
- 2" lens
Step by step
Step 1: Design & Wishes
We decided to design an Easter egg ornament with the German phrase 'Frohe Ostern' on it, meaning 'Happy Easter' in English. Remember though, you are always free to write your own phrases! Or maybe try writing the name of someone special and gifting them this beautiful ornament for Easter.
Tip:
If you decide to change the phrase, just ensure that you use a stencil-type font. This will mean the inner circles of the letters will not fall out. There are lots of free stencil fonts out there that you can choose from - simply run a google search and you'll come across heaps. Or, you can use a default font on your computer and create little bridges to connect the inner circles to the outer ones within your graphics program.
Step 2: Laser Settings
Send the file to your laser machine. We decided to create this sample using a Speedy 400 with 80 Watts of laser power, and it only took us 2 minutes! We used these parameters:
Engraving:
Power: 80% | Speed: 100% | Frequency: 500ppi | Air Assist: ON | Z-Offset: 6
Cutting:
Power: 95% | Speed: 1.5% | Frequency: 1000Hz | Air Assist: ON
Step 3: Decorations
Once the laser has finished working, you can attach your ribbons to the egg. Now, you can hang it up for everyone to see. You can use it, and other decorations you create with your laser machine, to create a beautiful Easter display in your home to wow your guests!
Tips:
- Be extra careful when handling the inner contours of the letters - they are very fragile and can fall apart easily
- You should always mask the wood to get the best result. This way, Air Assist will be able to remove the smoke residue before it can smudge the wood
- Apply this same idea / concept for other festive occasions, including Christmas, Birthdays, Weddings, etc...
