Easter Egg Decoration
Step by step guide
Preparation
Required material
- 1/8" Plywood
- Ribbons in any colour
Used Trotec Laser
- Speedy 400
- 80 watts
- 2.0 inch lens
Step by step
Step 1: Design and wishes
We designed an Easter egg with ornaments and the German wish "Frohe Ostern" for "Happy Easter".
You can write other sayings, or the name of the person who you want to give this wooden decoration as an Easter present. Feel free to change the template which we've uploaded for you.
Tip:
If you change the saying, you will want to use a stencil-type font so that the inner circles of the letters do not fall out (As in the letters O, A, etc.). There are many free stencil fonts you can find by searching online. You can also use any font by creating small bridges connecting the inner circles to the outer ones in your graphics program.
Step 2: Laser Settings
Send the file with your Easter egg to the laser. We have created this sample with a Speedy 400 with 80 watts laser power and used the following parameters:
Engraving:
Power: 80% - Speed: 100% - Frequency: 500 ppi - Air Assist: ON - Z-Offset: 6
Cutting:
Power: 95% - Speed: 1.5% - Frequency: 1000 Hz - Air Assist: ON
This Easter decoration was finished within 2 minutes with the laser!
Step 3: Decorate for Easter
After the laser has done the job, you can attach ribbons to the egg for hanging. Use this and other decorations to create a nice Easter display in your home.
Tips:
Take care with the inner contours of the letters which could fall apart.
Mask the wood carefully to get the best result. By masking the wood the Air Assist can take away all of the smoke residue that appears by cutting and engraving the wood.
This idea can also be used for other occasions such as Christmas, for gift tags, pendants and more.
