Info
With the careful nesting/arrangement of the design, you can create two flower swings from the one sheet Trotec Solid Woods 300mm x 600mm
Step by step
Step 1: Import design to print and laser
Open the graphics template in your preferred editor, graphics and modify it to your liking. The design file is customised for 5mm thick material. To adapt the design to suit thicker materials, simply edit the template elements. Print the file to Job Control using the following suggested settings:
Print settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line: |
---|---|---|
Standard Job | 333dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Enhanced Geometries, Inner Geometries first |
Info:
For faster engraving requiring less processing time, use 333dpi resolution.
Step 2: Laser Process Solid Wood Alder
Place the solid wood on the working table, and cover the open surface to increase vacuum. Print to Job Control and engrave and cut out the wood. You can also engrave the back of the wood so that both sides match. In order to repeat the engraving on both sides, remove the cut shapes, flip, and place them back in the same position, back side facing up. Repeat the engraving section of the job only. You may need to adjust the parameters to suit the laser used and available laser power:
Laser parameters:
Parameters | Color | Process | Power % | Speed % |
---|---|---|---|---|
Engraving | Black | Engrave CO2 | 70 | 100 |
Cutting | Red | Cutting CO2 | 100 |
ppi/Hz | Passes | Air Assist | Z-offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
500 | 1 | ON | +8mm | - |
1,000 | 1 | ON | 0mm | - |
Step 3: Assembly
Insert the two parts of the flower swing into one another and then place the circular support plate on it. You can use ribbon or string to hang the decoration in place. You've completed the swing and made Mum's day!
Why should you use Trotec's laserable wood for this decoration?
All Trotec materials, including, Solid Woods and veneer sheets have been expertly tested and selected for laser engraving and laser cutting. The laser creates fine engraving and precision cuts on the solid wood sheets, real wood veneer, plywood, TroCraft Eco or on the MDF board material.
Depending on the laser parameters and the wood, various optical effects can be achieved including 3D effect deep engraving, a brownish-colored or even ligher, white engraving.
Trotec wood sheets offer benefits such as a uniform grain structure, high-quality appearance, natural look and an optimised size to suit most Trotec lasers.
Inspiration
- Use different Solid Wood or MDF from the Trotec consumables range for this project for best results. Be sure to adjust the notches for the joins when selecting MDF.
- Combine bright and dark solid wood varieties from the Trotec range for a vibrant flower swing.
- For a unique look, paint the cut parts on both sides before engraving. This will give the design a unique appearance. For a painted flower swing, we reccomend MDF.
