Marble lucky charm
Step by step instructions
Use our step-by-step tutorial and template below to laser engrave lucky charms out of small marble stones.
Preparation
Required material
Small marble stones (we used a marble mosaic tile and removed the stones from the mat).
Machine used
- Speedy 360, 100 Watt
- 1.5" lens
- Vacuum table
You can use any laser machine from the Speedy laser engraver series to create these clever trinkets.
Tip
Use the 1.5" lens if you want to engrave fine details as shown in our graphic
Step by step
Step 1: Import design
You can import our template for your design, or you can create your own. When your design is ready, send the job to the laser engraver using the driver settings below.
Print settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 1000 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | - |
TIP:
If you are engraving detailed graphics, we recommend using the highest possible resolution. We used a resolution of 1000 dpi for our laser engraving job.
Step 2: Engraving the marble
Start by rinsing the stone under running water to remove any dust. Then place the stone it into your laser engraver and focus on the surface. If the stone is rounded, focus on the average value of the engraving area. Determine and enter the laser engraver parameters. The material parameters can vary depending on laser machine and available laser power.
LASER PARAMETERS ENGRAVING:
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 20 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | on | - 0.5 mm | - |
INFO:
We wanted to achieve a bold contrast with our design, so we used a negative offset value. This exposes the surface to more laser power so that the engraving shows more contrast.
Step 3: Cleaning
When you are finished processing, wipe off the stone with a damp cloth. Placing the processed stone under running water could wash out the engraving dust, giving your engraving a lower contrast.
Inspiration
Add value to your laser engraved stones by engraving sayings, slogans or quotes on the stones. You can also make a gift more personal and meaningful by personalizing the stones with names or dates.
