Safetycone
Laser protection cone for integration lasers
Ideal safety solution for integrated laser markers
Integration lasers are generally assigned to Laser Class 4. This means that when they are integrated into production lines, it is important to take into account comprehensive protective measures, such as enclosures, etc. In order to reduce costs and minimize effort for integrators, mechanical engineers, and production companies while ensuring complete safety, Trotec has developed the Safetycone laser protection cone. The patented Safetycone permits laser operation under Laser Class 1 and consequently the highest possible safety levels for your production environment.
Explanation of laser classes
Lasers are divided into internationally recognized safety classes based on their power and the associated risk of injury to eyes and skin: Class 1 offers the highest level of safety. Class 4 devices can emit laser radiation. In detail, this means:
Laser Class | Hazard assessment / Explanation | Trotec Systems |
1 | The accessible laser radiation of this class is harmless – even with long-term exposure or the laser machine is in a radiation-tight housing. | InMarker with Safetycone VIN Marker with Safetycone |
2 | These include visible laser machines (e.g. laser pointers with less than 1mW of power), which are only eye-safe when exposed to radiation of less than 0.25 seconds. | InMarker with Pilotlaser and Safetycone SpeedMarker Series Speedy Series |
3 | In any case, the accessible laser radiation is dangerous to the eye. Pay particular attention to reflections (e.g. from reflective material surfaces). | --- |
4 | Here, damage can be caused to eyes and skin or fires can be started within the danger area of the laser system. With this laser class, the user is obliged to strictly adhere to protective regulations! | Integration laser without safety cone |
Functionality of the Safetycone
The Safetycone is used to ensure laser safety housing for integration lasers in the InMarker series. Several sensors are used to monitor correct positioning. In order to actuate the sensors, the workpiece must be flush against the workpiece seal on the Safetycone; once the marking position is reached (and has been checked and released), the laser process is enabled. As part of the laser safety housing, the correct fit of the Safetycone is monitored by the safety control. If a sensor signal is lost, the interlock is immediately interrupted.

Suitable for:
InMarker
Fiber laser and MOPA for labeling metal and plastics
The powerful industrial laser engravers guarantee precise labeling with short cycle times as part of your production line, robot cell or production facility.
VIN Marker
Fiber laser for deep engravings for rapid inline VIN and PIN labeling
These powerful integration lasers offer the perfect solution for the automotive industry. Co-developed, tested and used by household-name car manufacturers.
Applications and areas of use
The SafetyCone can be easily integrated with the InMarker series marking lasers without the need to make expensive changes to your production line. This solution eliminates the need for lots of space or for costly housing. Any industrial labeling (DPM / PIN / VIN) can be directly implemented in the line in short cycle times without the need to fix material.
