Safetycone

Laser protection cone for integration lasers

Ideal safety solution for integrated laser markers

Integration lasers are generally assigned to Laser Class 4. This means that when they are integrated into production lines, it is important to take into account comprehensive protective measures, such as enclosures, etc. In order to reduce costs and minimize effort for integrators, mechanical engineers, and production companies while ensuring complete safety, Trotec has developed the Safetycone laser protection cone. The patented Safetycone permits laser operation under Laser Class 1 and consequently the highest possible safety levels for your production environment.

Explanation of laser classes

Lasers are divided into internationally recognized safety classes based on their power and the associated risk of injury to eyes and skin: Class 1 offers the highest level of safety. Class 4 devices can emit laser radiation. In detail, this means:

Hazard assessment / Explanation

Trotec Systems

1

The accessible laser radiation of this class is harmless – even with long-term exposure or the laser machine is in a radiation-tight housing.

2

These include visible laser machines (e.g.  laser pointers with less than 1mW of power), which are only eye-safe when exposed to radiation of less than 0.25 seconds.

In any case, the accessible laser radiation is dangerous to the eye. Pay particular attention to reflections (e.g. from reflective material surfaces).

4

Here, damage can be caused to eyes and skin or fires can be started within the danger area of the laser system. With this laser class, the user is obliged to strictly adhere to protective regulations! Integration laser without safety cone

Functionality of the Safetycone

The Safetycone is used to ensure laser safety housing for integration lasers in the InMarker series. Several sensors are used to monitor correct positioning. In order to actuate the sensors, the workpiece must be flush against the workpiece seal on the Safetycone; once the marking position is reached (and has been checked and released), the laser process is enabled. As part of the laser safety housing, the correct fit of the Safetycone is monitored by the safety control. If a sensor signal is lost, the interlock is immediately interrupted.

SafetyCone properties

Safety without protective housing

With protection in place through a number of sensors, the SafetyCone isolates the laser beam during the marking or engraving process on your component.

Requires only a little space

Extremely compact in size, the SafetyCone provides safe labeling of products and components, even within confined and restricted areas.

Simple integration

The modular design of the SafetyCone allows it to be easily mounted on the InMarker series integration lasers; it can also therefore be optimally integrated into an existing or new production line as a complete system.

Straight and curved surfaces

The labeling area with the SafetyCone is either 50 x 40 mm or 90 x 70 mm (InMarker) or 120 x 20 mm (VIN Marker), or can be individually adapted to your requirements. The standard versions are designed for flat surfaces. It is possible to customize the SafetyCone if the surface is curved or bent.

Cost-effective and space-saving

The SafetyCone is more cost-effective and takes up less space than laser protective housing, but still meets all occupational safety requirements in relation to employees.

Options (VIN SafetyCone)

In order to easily clean the SafetyCone and laser of any dust that has been produced (such as during deep engraving), an optional cleaning station is available.
