Step by step

Step 1

Step 1: Laser engraving the sketchbook

In our example, the sketchbook was refined with a fine engraving and personalised with a name. All you need to do is open the PDF and enter the name that you would like to use. And as always, please feel free to use your own designs - get creative!

Parameters:

These parameters produced a brown coloured engraving

Engraving: Power: 20% - Speed: 30% - Frequency: 500ppi - Air Assist: ON - Z-Offset: -1mm

Please Note:

Differing colours may react differently than our sample.

Step 2

Step 2: Laser Cutting the Notebook

The notebook that we used has a flexible cover that can be easily cut with a laser machine. We decided to create a tree design for our sample. To offer more stability to the fine details of our tree, we glued a piece of paper on the inside of the cover, which also gives the design a lovely contrasting effect.

1: Table
Ensure you are using the Aluminium Cutting Grid Table. Cover the surface around the workpiece to increase the vacuum suction.

2: Air Flow Shutter
If you are using an air flow shutter, make sure that you close the lid to achieve optimal suction on the table and not on the exhaust slots.

3: Laser Process
Open the design and send it to your laser machine.

Parameters:

Cutting: Power: 20% - Speed: 0.5% - Frequency: 1000Hz - Air Assist: OFF -
Z-Offset: -1mm

Step 3: Finishing

Take a piece of paper that fits your design and use the adhesive spray to glue it to the inside of your book cover. This will protect your design and give the cover more stability. Alternatively, you can use a simple glue stick, but the spray adhesive will ensure you achieve maximum coverage.
