Tips
You can always try experimenting with different engravings and artwork for a personal, customised effect.
Step by step
Step 1: Design
Feel free to import the template we have provided, or you can try your hand at creating your own! The file we have provided is suitable for a 14" laptop, but you can easily adapt it to any size you need. The design consists of two parts: The outer part with the pattern, and the inner part with marks and contouring for the seam.
When you're ready, send the job to the laser machine using the following driver settings:
Print Settings:
Standard | 500dpi | None |
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|
Colour | Optimised Geometries, Inner Geometries First |
Halftone | Others |
---|
Step 2: Engraving & Cutting Process
Please remember to test the material before you begin engraving the bag.
Place the fabric into the machine with the inside down. Begin with the first graphic. Of course, feel free to personalise and individualise the bag before that. Once you have finished cutting out the laptop cover, turn it over and use the laser to mark the seam line (if required).
Remember, you may need to adjust the parameter settings - the parameters may differ depending on which machine you are using and its available laser power. (The parameters for 'black' are only necessary of you also intend on engraving the bag).
Laser Parameters (Optional):
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 80 | 30 | 500 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | - | - |
Laser Parameters (Cutting):
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 10 | 1.5 | 1000 |
Blue | Cut CO2 | 7 | 2 | 1000 |
Colour | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | 1 | ON | - | - |
Blue | 1 | ON | +3mm | - |
Step 3: Finishing
Remember to insert the eyelet before you close the lateral seam. Follow the instructions that will be provided when you buy the eyelets.
Close the seam on the left and right sides of the cover. The scratching lines should help you get the positioning right.
Finally, insert the rubber band. Knot it together and your laptop bag is ready for use!
