Table decoration vintage style
See in this DIY sample how you can create a table decoration in vintage style using jute fabric and fusible interfacing.
Preparation
What you will need
- Jute material by the meter of cut, approx. 40 x 50 cm
- fusible interfacing D24 H200, approx. 35 x 35 cm
- Iron or press
Machine used
- Speedy 360
- 80 watts
- 2" lens
- Nozzle with large diameter
- Vacuum table with honeycomb cutting table
Use any of the of the Speedy laser engraver series range of machinery to make this example.
Always Remember
Ensure that the throttle valve remains closed to maximize the vacuum.
Step by step
Step 1: Jute fabric
Create your own design or simply use our provided template. Now send the design to your laser engraver using the following print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimised geometries inner geometries first |
Step 2: Laser process jute fabric
Decide on parameter settings. The below parameters may vary depending on the laser engraver used and available laser power.
Tip: We recommend that you iron the jute before you begin with the engraving process. This ensures great results always!
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 75 | 80 | 500 |
Red (scratching) | Cut CO2 | 13 | 1 | 1000 |
Blue | Cut CO2 | 50 | 1.5 | 1000 |
Colour | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 1 | on | 20mm | - |
Red (scratching) | 1 | on | 10mm | 1 |
Blue | 1 | on | - | - |
Step 3: Fusible interfacing
Create the design of your choice or simply use our provided template. Now send the artwork to the laser using the below recommended print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 333 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Ordered Dithering | Optimised geometries |
Step 4: Laser process Fusible interfacing
Decide on parameter settings. The below parameters may vary depending on the laser engraver used and available laser power.
Recommendation: Always ensure that you engrave on the front of the material (non-sticky).
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 100 | 500 |
Red | Cut CO2 | 15 | 2 | 1000 |
Colour | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 1 | On | - | Optimised quality, correction 15 |
Red | 1 | On | - | - |
Step 5: Finishing
Using either an iron or heat press, straighten the fusible interfacing on the jute fabric. Now place the lace design on the jute and heat press or iron it.
Settings:
Iron: Medium heat (level 2), 8 seconds
Press: 130 - 165°C, 8 seconds
Important: We recommend that before you iron the jute fabric, always place a piece of fabric on the interfacing. This will ensure your material does not stick on the hot surface!
Should you require a more elegant or country look to your material, you can remove single jute threads and create fringes to achieve your desired outcome.
