Table decoration vintage style
See in this DIY sample how you can create a table decoration in vintage style using jute fabric and fusible interfacing.
Preparation
Required material
- Jute fabric by the meter of cut, approx. 40 x 50 cm
- fusible interfacing D24 H200, approx. 35 x 35 cm
- Iron or press
Machine used
- Speedy 360
- 80 watts
- 2" lens
- Nozzle with large diameter
- Vacuum table with honeycomb cutting table
This tutorial can be performed with any other Speedy laser engraver.
Important
Maximize the vacuum by shutting the throttle valve.
Step by step
Step 1: Jute fabric
Design your own pattern or use the template we provide. Send it to your laser with the below printer settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimized geometries inner geometries first |
Step 2: Laser process jute fabric
Set the parameters. The parameters we provide may change depending on the machine you are using and the laser power that you have available.
Tip: Before you engrave, iron the jute. You will obtain a nicer product if your material is extremely flat.
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 75 | 80 | 500 |
Red (scratching) | Cut CO2 | 13 | 1 | 1000 |
Blue | Cut CO2 | 50 | 1.5 | 1000 |
Color | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 1 | on | 20mm | - |
Red (scratching) | 1 | on | 10mm | 1 |
Blue | 1 | on | - | - |
Step 3: Fusible interfacing
Either design your own graphic or use our files. Send it to the laser with the below print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 333 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Ordered Dithering | Optimized geometries |
Step 4: Laser process Fusible interfacing
Set the parameters. The parameters we provide may change depending on the machine you are using and the laser power that you have available.
Tip: Be sure that it's the non-sticky front side of the fusible interfacing that you're engraving.
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 100 | 500 |
Red | Cut CO2 | 15 | 2 | 1000 |
Color | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 1 | On | - | Optimized quality, correction 15 |
Red | 1 | On | - | - |
Step 5: Finishing
Attach the fusible interfacing to the jute fabric with an iron or a press. Position the lace design onto the jute and press it into the material.
Settings:
Iron: Medium heat (level 2), 8 seconds
Press: 130 - 165°C, 8 seconds
Important: Place a piece of fabric onto the interfacing before ironing or pressing. This will prevent it from melting and sticking to the hot surface.
If you would rather your decoration have a more rustic look, remove individual threads from the jute to make fringes.
