Table decoration vintage style
In this DIY tutorial, you will learn how to create vintage style table décor with using just simple fabric and fusible interfacing.
Preparation
Materials required
- Jute fabric, cut in meters to approximately 40 x 50 cm
- fusible interfacing D24 H200, approximately 35 x 35 cm
- Press or iron
Laser machine used
- Speedy 360
- 80 watts
- 2" lens
- Large diameter nozzle
- Vacuum table with honeycomb cutting table
This application can be processed with the use of any system in the Speedy laser engraver series.
Important note
To maximize the vacuum power and efficiency, close the throttle valve.
Step by step
Step 1: Jute fabric
Use our provided template or create your own design, and then simply send it to the laser machine with the following settings programmed:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimized geometries inner geometries first |
Step 2: Laser process jute fabric
Our parameters can vary depending on the specific laser system and power being used, and you can also make your own parameter settings to your desired specifications
Tip: Flatten the jute fabric with an iron or press prior to engraving to achieve the best results.
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 75 | 80 | 500 |
Red (scratching) | Cut CO2 | 13 | 1 | 1000 |
Blue | Cut CO2 | 50 | 1.5 | 1000 |
Color | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 1 | on | 20mm | - |
Red (scratching) | 1 | on | 10mm | 1 |
Blue | 1 | on | - | - |
Step 3: Fusible interfacing
Using our provided template or your own design, send the file to the laser with the following print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 333 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Ordered Dithering | Optimized geometries |
Step 4: Laser process Fusible interfacing
Our parameters can vary depending on the specific laser system and power being used, and you can also make your own parameter settings to your desired specifications
Tip: Engrave on the front of the material (non-sticky) only.
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 100 | 500 |
Red | Cut CO2 | 15 | 2 | 1000 |
Color | Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | 1 | On | - | Optimized quality, correction 15 |
Red | 1 | On | - | - |
Step 5: Finishing
Secure the fusible interfacing onto the jute fabric using either a press or iron, and set the lace pattern on the jute in the same manner.
Settings:
Iron: Medium heat (level 2), 8 seconds
Press: 130 - 165°C, 8 seconds
Important: Prior to pressing the fabric with a press or iron, place a piece of fabric on the interfacing to prevent the material from potentially sticking on the hot surface.
You can also change the motif of your table décor to your own specific liking. For example, you can create a more rustic look by removing some of the jute threads, resulting in a fringed appearance.
