Preparation

You Will Need
Machine Used

You can use any laser machine from the Speedy series to create this sample.

Important
  • For the inside, use paper with at least 150g/m² to secure a sufficient volume for the finished item.
  • Ensure that 'Send Beziers & Paths to Driver' is activated in your software. Otherwise, the registration marks will not be recognised by JobControl Vision.

Step 1

Step 1: Create the Design Layout

First, you'll need to create your own design and adapt it to your needs. Print it on the LaserPaper Wood or forward it to your trusted printer. Since the sample is being engraved and cut, we have placed a hair across the middle of the print file instead of a bunch of registration marks. This hairline cross will help you position the job properly.

Now, send the graphic for the outer shell to your laser machine using the following settings:

Print Settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line
Standard 500dpi None
Halftone Others
Colours Enhanced Geometries, Inner Geometries First

Step 2: Laser Process

Make sure you adjust the parameter settings before you start processing your material! And please note that these parameters can differ depending on the laser machine you are using and its available laser power.

Tip:

Try changing the order of the colours in JobControl from red to blue so that the material is scratched first and cut second.

Laser Parameters:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Black Engraving CO2 20 50 500
Red Engraving CO2 12 1.5 1000
Blue Cutting CO2 5 1.5 1000

Step 3: Post-Processing

Remove the cover from your laser machine and insert the core of the catalogue. Or, if you are using a commercial printer, you can forward the cut-out cover to your printing representative and they can attach it to the catalogue.

Inspirations

Due to the wood grains, coloured prints will also look awesome on this material! There are no limits to your creativity here!
