Preparation
You Will Need
- 6 slate coasters, approx. 10 x 10cm
- 1 sheet of solid wood oak 600 x 300mm
Machine used
- Speedy 100 flexx
- 40W
- 2" lens
- Honeycomb cutting table for wood cutting
You can use any machine from the Speedy series to create this sample.
Step by step
Step 1: Slate
Get Creative! Come up with your very own design for the coasters, or you are always free to import our template. Adapt the graphic if you need to so that it matches the size of the slate sheets.
Now, send the job to your laser engraving machine using the following driver settings:
Print settings:
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500 dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | - |
Step 2: Laser process slate
Now you need to determine and enter the material's parameter settings. Please note that the parameters can always vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available power.
Tip:
To ensure quicker production times, try engraving all your coasters in the one step. Seeing as the individual pieces are not all 100% identical to the next, be sure to pay close attention to the positioning of your graphic - does it sit nicely on every single coaster?
Laser Parameters engraving

Step 3: Storage
Now it's time to create your design for the coaster's storage! Again, you are free to import our template if you'd prefer. Adapt the graphic to fit the slate sheets.
Send the job to the laser using the following driver settings:
Tip:
Before you begin cutting, measure the thickness of the wooden sheet and adapt the kerf is need be. Also, ensure that you double-check that the slate coasters actually fit in the storage box!
Print settings:
