Ruby® 2.9 – 22.07.2024
New Functions
Ruby® REST API (Beta)
For Speedy, U300
With the new Ruby® REST API (as a beta function) you can automate numerous processes and tasks and integrate Ruby® easily and securely into existing software systems. (go to Swagger Editor)
Security is ensured by the Personal Access Token (PAT), which can only be assigned and revoked by administrators. (We recommend creating a separate user for API usage).
Automation with predefined profiles using Ruby® JobManager
For Speedy, U300
With the Ruby® JobManager you automate the processing by your laser machine. You define a storage location in your Windows drive and link it to a profile previously defined in Ruby®. As soon as a file is stored in this network folder, JobManager retrieves the file and performs the steps defined in the profile. Any network folder can be selected for each profile.
Operator Mode
For Speedy, U300
The operator mode allows you to perform actions such as moving the axes with devices that are connected to the laser via LAN or WLAN. Simply perform the requested action on the keyboard and confirm that you are at the machine. Operator mode remains active as long as the user is logged in, another user takes control, or the machine is switched off.
Import and export of users
For Speedy, U300
Import CSV files with Ruby® user lists including all rights (CSV file with semicolon as separator). This saves you time manually entering large user groups. If a user is deleted, all assigned designs and jobs are transferred to the super admin. This means that all data is still retained.
Process PDF files with embedded fonts
For Speedy, U300
Embedded fonts in the PDF can now be edited even if they are not available in the Ruby® font library. These are only available for the imported design. Ruby® supports embedded Type 3 vector fonts such as True Type fonts and partially Open Type fonts. Raster fonts are not supported.
Improvements and updates
Extended options for profile imports and exports
For Speedy, U300
The options for creating profiles have been extensively expanded. Possible new presetting’s include the setting of anchor points, the handling of overlapping cutting lines and more.
Combined with JobManager, this allows you to further automate your work processes.
Complete integration of the Atmos Pure extraction system
For Speedy, U300
Users can now use the status screen in Ruby® to adjust the Atmos Pure suction power via the status screen in Ruby®. The air flow can also be regulated directly on the laser display.
Improved search function with advanced filter options
For Speedy + U300
The improved, fuzzy search function - "Fuzzy Search" - searches for similar results in addition to exact matches. You can also use filters to restrict results according to users or tags.
Improved display of materials
For Speedy, U300
The full material names are now displayed on the Prepare screen. For a better overview when selecting materials.
Workflow documentation and fast support thanks to screen recording
For Speedy, U300
Record screen activities directly in Ruby®. This useful feature helps to document processes for employees. For service issues, you can attach them directly to the ticket.
Activate & deactivate moving the field of view
For Speedy, U300
With just one click, you can now activate or deactivate the canvas scroll when dragging an object.
Further improvements:
- New machine types supported: Speedy 50 S, SP-xP series
- Test pulse: selection of laser source possible
- Serial number is displayed for tabs/tabs
- Minimum diameter for round engravings now 1 mm
New for U300
Precise Z-axis control
Ruby® now also supports Z-axis positioning via the software. For more precise focusing
Revision of material effects for marking
The function of the "Cut" material effect is integrated into the "Mark" material effect. Objects filled in the design are provided with fill lines - for unfilled objects, only the outer contour (vector engraving) is traced. It is now immediately apparent whether an area is filled or not.
The Wobbeling function is also included in the "Mark" material effect and enables quick deep engraving.
Filling angle rotates with the object
The filling angle automatically adjusts to the rotation of the object. This dynamic adjustment ensures synchronized object rotation.
Engrave material parameters with optional high-quality function
With the optional High Quality mode, you can improve the engraving quality, especially for photo engravings, while increasing the engraving time. This function is deactivated as standard.
Engrave material parameters with bitmap autospeed mode
The speed of the engraving is generated automatically based on the parameters power, frequency and dpi
Known Issues:
- When connecting a profile to a Windows drive, the dialog box opens in the background.
- Screen recording only works when the microphone is activated. No audio track is recorded.
- Imported JPG files are much too large in Ruby and must be reduced in size.
