Preparation
Required material
- 2 24x12-in. sheets of MDF, 0.24 in. (6mm) thick
- 1/4 sheet TroGlass Clear 0.39 in. (10 mm) thick
- Material to cover the engraving table
Machine used
- Speedy 360, 100 Watts
- 2.5" lens
- JobControl® Vision camera system
- Aluminum cutting grid table or honeycomb cutting table for cutting the MDF
- Acrylic cutting grid for cutting the acrylic
This sample can be produced on any machine from the Speedy 300 platform or bigger with installed JobControl® Vision Software.
Important
Make sure that "Send Beziers and paths to driver" is activated in your software. Otherwise the registration marks are not recognized by JobControl® Vision.
Step by step
Step 1: Picture cards
First, you'll need to determine what design you want to use. You may use our template, or create your own design. If you use our template, you'll want to replace the pictures with your own images. Then print the design directly on the MDF with an UV printer.

Send the job to the laser using the settings below. Please note that if you do not follow these instructions, the registration marks will not be recognized by JobControl® Vision.

Step 2: Laser process picture cards
Determine and adjust the parameter settings. Note that the printing process used can have an impact on the laser parameters.

Important: For cutting wood, please use the nozzle with small diameter. In addition you can increase the pressure of your air assist.
Tipp: Apply application tape to reduce the traces of smoke. Leave out the registration marks, so that JobControl® Vision camera system can "read" them.

Step 3: Acrylic holder
We produced an acrylic holder for the picture cards.
Tip: Check the kerf when producing the base plate and adapt it if necessary.

Step 4: Laser process acrylic holder
Determine and adjust the parameter settings. The recommended settings can differ depending on the laser machine used and laser power available.
Important: For cutting acrylic, be sure to use the nozzle with big diameter. In addition you can increase the pressure of your air assist.
The pole can get bent during cutting.

Step 5: Finishing
Clean the cutting edges of the MDF cards and put the stand together.

Inspiration
- Get creative! You can change the shape of the picture cards or the material, or add a logo or other text on the back of the playing cards.
- For an elegant effect, we engraved the cutting edge with a stripe pattern. To do so, simply put the cards on the holder, place it inside the laser and engrave all 4 sides.
