Lasercut and Engraved
Cardboard Chair
This tutorial shows you how to engrave and laser cut cardboard to make a useable chair.
Preparation
Required material
- 2 pieces of
2mm corrugated cardboard
Trotec laser used
- Speedy 300 laser engraver
- 30 watts
- 1.5 inch lens
Step by step
Step 1: Preparation
Use the vacuum table with the honeycomb tabletop for cutting and engraving the cardboard.
Step 2: Engraved Front of First Piece of Cardboard
Print the first page of the PDF document (the engraving layout) to the laser, sizing it to 24 in x 12 in. Adjust the laser pointer to the job and engrave it.
Laser Settings
Front of the first cardboard
Engraving: Power: 40% - Speed: 100% - Frequency: 500 ppi - Z-Offset: 6mm - Air Assist: OFF
Step 3: Back of First Piece of Cardboard
After the engraving part, turn around the cardboard horizontally and cut the cardboard (cutting file on the second page of the PDF document).
Laser Settings
Back of the first cardboard
Cutting-in: Power: 10% - Speed: 1% - Frequency: 1000 Hz - Air Assist: ON
Cutting: Power: 20% - Speed: 1% - Frequency: 1000 Hz - Air Assist: ON
Step 4: Second Piece of Cardboard
Now place the second cardboard sheet for cutting in the laser. These are on the third page of the PDF document.

Cutting: Power: 20% - Speed: 1% - Frequency: 1000 Hz - Air Assist: ON
Step 6: Use
Use the vacuum table with the honeycumb tabletop for cutting and engraving the cardboard. You have to engrave the front of the cardboard and cut it on the back. That's why you have to turn it around after engraving and cut it on the other side.
