Trotec Laser and Accessories
This project can be made using any laser engraver from the Speedy series.
Step by step
Step 1: Prepare Your Design and Process the Transparent TroLase Signage ADA Sheet
You can download the template we used from iStock (below), or create your own design using a program such as Adobe Photoshop. If you intend to use a UV printer, we recommend isolating your flower outline and creating a separate file. This will prevent you from accidentally printing the outline onto the transparent TroLase ADA Signage sheet.
We cut the transparent TroLase ADA Signage sheet in advance, ensuring that it fit our picture frame. We then used a UV printer to print the colour blotches on the reverse side of the sheet.
Alternatively, if your Trotec laser is equipped with a JobControl® Vision camera system, you will need to first UV-print the transparent TroLase ADA Signage sheet (NOTE: remember to add registration marks to your design). You may then proceed to cut the material.
Step 2: Send the Flower Design to Your Laser
Open the file containing the flower outline, and send the job to your laser using the following print settings:
Print Settings
Process mode | Resolution | Cut line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 500dpi | none |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Color | Optimized Geometries, Inner Geometries First |
Tip
Pay attention to the thickness of your flower lines, as when they are too thin they can easily break!
Step 3: Laser Process the Black TroLase ADA Signage Sheet
Place the black TroLase ADA Signage sheet on the acrylic cutting grid table in your laser. To prevent the material from moving while being cut, we recommend covering the remaining work area with scrap paper. This trick will help strengthen the laser's vaccuum suction force on your material.
In JobControl®, enter the processing parameters to cut the flower outline. The settings may vary depending on your Trotec laser model and its available wattage.
Processing Parameters
Color | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Red | Cut CO2 | 38 | 0.8 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Direction | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | ON | - | - | - |
Step 4: Assemble the Artwork
First, place the passe-partout on top of the transparent TroLase ADA Signage sheet into your frame's passe-partout (if you have one).
Next, peel away the protective film from the adhesive backing of the black flower cutout. Carefully affix the cutout to the centre of the transparent TroLase ADA Signage sheet.
Finally, put together the frame.
