Step by step instruction

Use this step-by-step guide to make a spooky laser engraved Halloween lantern. For this lantern, we used TroGlass Color Gloss in Orange and Black. The tutorial also includes a graphic file and the JobControl® laser parameters at the end of the page.

Preparation

Required material
  • 1/4 sheet of cast acrylic in black or orange
  • Acrylic glue
Machine used
  • Speedy 400, 80 watt
  • 2" lens
  • Vacuum table with acrylic cutting grid
Tips

Use the 2" lens for best cutting results.
Remove the protective foil on the back of the acrylic after cutting. This prevents the material from being scratched.

Step 1: Preparation

You can import our graphic or create your own design. To begin, remove the protective foil from the front of the acrylic and put the material into the laser.
Send the job to the laser using the settings below.

Step 2

Step 2: Laser process

The first thing to do is to define the laser parameters. The parameters will depend on which machine you are using and the laser power available.

Step 3

Step 3: Assembly

Once you are finished laser processing, remove the protective foil from the back of the material, and then clean the pieces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Next you can assemble the five pieces and secure them with acrylic glue. Your Halloween lantern is ready!
