Neogen lead from the front in the Irish print industry.
Neogen is a leading marketing communications company supplying a range of services across Ireland. Founded in 2004 as a commercial printer, Neogen now supplies multi-channel marketing services to some of Ireland's leading brands, retailers and organisations in industries as varied as food, drink and commercial.
A customer-centric business, Neogen works in partnership with clients to deliver bespoke project solutions tailored to their needs. The team's success has been recognised in the Irish Printer Awards, winning Digital Printer of the Year in 2016, 2019 and most recently 2022 as well as securing a further four awards at the 2022 ceremony.
A dedication to innovation and customers
Neogen has a proactive approach to project work, developing a partnership with each client to create tailored, bespoke solutions for their requirements with strong attention to detail. To continually offer a great service to new and returning clients, the NeoGen team commit to investing in the latest innovative technologies including printing presses, wide format and flatbed printers to stay ahead of the competition.
Neogen's change from a commercial printer to multi-channel marketing services was initiated by changing market demands, notably the increasing customer desire to deal with a "one-stop-shop" supplier who could oversee all aspects of project work. One of the key markets Neogen diversified into was signage.
This led to a necessity for outsourcing laser processing work, particularly for materials such as acrylics, leather and wall graphic materials. As time went on the lack of quality control and increased lead times due to outsourcing became a cause for concern, leading to increased costs for clients, something Neogen strives to avoid.
Director Julian McDermott and the Neogen team decided that to maintain their business development, laser processing was a natural addition to their in-house facilities. A visit to the FESPA exhibition allowed the team to see four manufacturers, including Trotec Laser in action. The exhibition with further research and a demonstration at Trotec's Dublin showroom lead to Neogen purchasing a Speedy 360 laser engraver in May 2017.
A complete service provider
Since the Speedy 360 was installed, Neogen has continued to cultivate its successful business growth, offering clients an all-in-one solution for their needs, processing all aspects of project work in-house.
The Speedy laser is the perfect tool for Neogen, tying into their philosophy of creating high-quality products for clients. Thanks to contactless laser processing, all materials are accurately cut and engraved, giving the team peace of mind that each piece will be finished to the same high standard regardless of the job quantity. The Trotec Vision Print and Cut camera system has also been a valuable addition, allowing the team to effortlessly process different printed products for their innovative line of packaging with pinpoint accurate results.
The laser also plays an important role in prototyping at Neogen, testing client ideas to further develop them into finished products.
As new laser users, Trotec's support was essential for Neogen in finding the optimal solution for their needs. During the demonstration, Trotec's area manager gave Julian and the team a deeper insight into what was possible with laser technology and the capabilities of the Speedy series. This included the different ways to process products, such as laser cutting and scoring, while also advising that the flexibility of the technology would allow Neogen to diversify its product offering. This flexibility means that Neogen can effortlessly respond to clients' requirements, as projects are frequently driven by materials supplied by clients.
As Trotec's showroom is only 10 minutes from Neogen in Dublin, the team has maximum peace of mind that they can receive a fast response to any enquiries they have. Julian has referred to the laser as a great investment and the Neogen team are excited to further develop their product and service offering with more uses for the Speedy laser.
"Trotec's brand was a key factor in our decision. As a European manufacturer with a strong reputation, coupled with their local support in Ireland, we know we can rely on Trotec when required."
