Laser engraved
glass bottles
Add more value to simple IKEA bottles by engraving your personal quote.
Preparation
Required material
- Glass bottle such as the MILDRA from IKEA, or any other colored glass bottle you like
- Paper towel and a sponge or spray
Trotec laser used
- Speedy 400
- 80 watts
- 2.0 inch lens
- Rotary attachment
Step by step
Step 1: Preparation
First mount the rotary attachment and plug it in to the laser. Make sure you turn the laser off before you do this. After that, you can switch on the laser. Then apply a damp paper towel on the surface of the bottle and use a sponge or spray to moisten the towel. This will help prevent the glass from splintering and help you get a white engraving. Make sure there are no air bubbles or wrinkles. Next put the bottle into the rotary. It may be necessary to adjust the inclination angle to bring the engraving surface in a parallel position.
Step 2: Settings
Laser Settings
We used a Speedy 400 with 80 Watts laser power with the following parameters:
Engraving: Power: 100% - Speed: 60% - Frequency: 500 ppi - Air Assist: OFF
Import the PDF file into Corel Draw. You can personalise it with a quote or take your own design and send it to the laser. Make sure that you have activated the rotary attachment and entered the diameter of the glass in the properties dialog.
