Display for Aluminium Tags

See how you can make a trendy display for your aluminium tags out of Trotec materials.

Preparation

Required material:
Machine used:

This display can of course also be produced with all other machines of the Speedy family or SP series.

Important

For the best cutting results, use the acrylic grid table with TroGlass and the aluminium cutting grid table for the wood.
For optimum vacuum, place the material and cover the rest of the engraving table.

Step by step

wooden back part display
Step 1

Step 1: Wooden back part

Import our design template into your graphic program and personalize it according to your likes and dislikes. Start with the wooden back part of the display. Send the graphic to JobControl® using the following parameters.

Tip:

To save material, we cut out some wood from the back part of the display since it will mostly be covered by the front made out of acrylic.

Print settings

Process Resolution Cut line
Standard 500 dpi none
Halftone Others
color enhanced geometries,
inner geometries first

Step 2

Step 2: Laser process back part

Insert the veneered wood inside the machine and if possible, maximize the vacuum to compensate for any unevenness of the material. Cut the back part, and then clean it with a damp cloth. The suggested parameters can differ depending on the machine used and available laser power.

Laser Parameters:

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
red cutting CO2 100 1.0 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 on - -
print driver hanging bars
Step 3

Step 3: Hanging bars

Now it's time to work on the small parts of the display: Send the graphic to your Trotec laser. The black-white gradients in the bars safely hold the ball chains due to the slight depressions in the material.

Print settings

Process Resolution Cut line
Relief 500 dpi none

Step 4

Step 4: Laser process hanging bars

Place the solid wood into your Trotec laser machine and make sure that it lies flat and does not move. If needed, tape it down. Engrave and cut the hanging bars from the solid wood.

Tip:

Due to the small geometry of the hanging bars, we reduced the JobControl® standard parameter and increased the correction to 20.

Laser Parameters

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Black engraving CO2 80 50  500
 Red cutting CO2 100 1.0 1000

laser cut adhesive letters
Step 5

Step 5: Adhesive letters

The adhesive letters made from our veneered wood are a special highlight of this display. The frame around the letters work as a positioning aid. Send the file to the laser using the following parameters.

Tip:

To make the letters, you can use the same wood that we originally cut out form the back of the display. Simply make sure to attach souble sided adhesive tape before cutting the letters out.

Print settings

Step 6

Step 6: Laser process adhesive letters

Place the veneered wood with double-sided adhesive tape into your Trotec laser, cut the adhesive letters and clean them with a damp cloth. Now put a stripe of paper tape over the letters so that you can easily remove them from the machine.

Laser Parameters

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
red cutting CO2 100 0.8 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced

print settings stand
Step 7

Step 7: Stand

For static reasons we produced the stand from two layers of solid wood. The graphic is the same for both parts.

Important:

Check whether the material thicknesses of front and back part fit into the slot of the stand and adapt them if necessary.

Step 8

Step 8: Laser process stand

Position the solid wood into your Trotec laser and make sure that it lies flat. Duplicate the job in JobControl® and cut both stands. Clean them with a damp cloth.

Laser Parameters

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
red cutting CO2 100 1.2 1000

Info:

  • We used the standard laser parameters from JobControl® for solid wood

Step 9

Step 9: Front part

For the final part of the display, if you can, remove the aluminium cutting grid and insert the vacuum table. Put the acrylic cutting grid on the vacuum table. Send the graphic to the laser using the following settings:

Step 11: Assembly

Fix the wooden adhesive letters on acrylic part of the display and insert the hanging bars. Finally, put the front and back part into the stand. Voila, your display is ready!
